Safety and skills consultancy joins Global Energy Group
Leading energy industry service company the Global Energy Group has further increased its capability with the addition of a successful safety and skills consultancy to its growing portfolio of businesses.
Global, which has head offices in Aberdeen and Inverness, acquired a majority shareholding in Ellon-based Training Competency Consultancy Ltd (TCC).
TCC delivers a range of high quality health, safety, environmental and discipline training courses, tailored to the needs of the petro-chemical, oil and gas and power generation sectors. The company has recently been awarded a number of major contracts in the UK and overseas, including one with Maersk to support for their ‘Incident Free’ programme in Qatar and one with major offshore operator TAQA Bratani supporting implementation of their Competence Assurance System on their North Sea assets.
Global chairman, Roy MacGregor, said: “The emphasis on safety, environmental protection and skills development in the energy industry has never been greater.
“TCC’s services are a great fit with those we provide to the energy industry and we believe their addition to the Global Energy Group will greatly benefit both our own workforce and our customers’ operations. We are delighted to welcome the TCC team to the group.”
TCC will continue to be headed by managing director and founder James Murphy and the company’s workforce is being expanded to meet a number of new services being offered.
James Murphy said: “Joining a group of the scale and ambition of Global presents an excellent opportunity to further develop the services we offer and the customer base we serve.
“This is a very exciting move for us and we look forward to continuing to grow our business as part of the group with the establishment of two new overseas bases in Ghana and Azerbaijan.”
The acquisition is the second this month for the Global Energy Group. The group recently announced it had acquired a majority shareholding in Kaymas Electrical Engineering Ltd.
